Big news: Irish add much needed Running Back

2018 running back out of Georgia, C’Bo Flemister, has committed to Notre Dame. The staff offered Flemister after the announcement of C.J Holmes and Deon McIntosh being dismissed from the football team. To add to that, Josh Adams also decided to forgo his senior season and head the the NFL draft. That left the Irish with three RBs on their roster which just wasn’t going to cut it. Flemister is by no means going to impress you with his rankings, coming in at around the 150th best RB in this class, but Denson liked what he saw from him when watching his film and he’s a good fit academically for the Irish. C’Bo has been committed to Georgia Tech since December but didn’t sign during the early signing period, hoping for more offers. He got that from the Irish and was also pursued heavily by Tennessee. The opportunity to come to Notre Dame was just to much for him to pass up and looking at the depth chart I think really solidified this decision. Flemister holds 9 offers from Georgia Tech, Tennessee,  Navy and others.

What will C’Bo Flemister bring?

The 5’11 175 pound back is a proto-type running back. He has great pad level, with good escapability. He has decent speed but he isn’t going to wow you with his break away ability. I think his IQ is very high and his ability to use his offensive line is impressive for a “low 3 Star”. Point blank, the staff needed bodies and Flemister definitely helps with that. He could end up being a very productive back in South Bend, usually that happens with the productivity of the offensive line throughout the years. At worst right now, he will be 4th on the depth chart but we all know injuries happen and backs get worn down throughout games. If Flemister can out produce his “rankings” and be effective throughout practices, I would not be shocked if he indeed got carries this season. Flemister rushed for more than 3,200 yards and 43 touchdowns in his last two season. He’s definitely a capable back.

This was a much needed pick up for the staff in terms on depth and they came through late in the process with an additional running back. Jahmir Smith is an early enrollee whos already on campus and will be the 3rd string heading into spring practice. There’s a ton of opportunity at this position. Hats off the Denson for getting that extra guy for the running back group. National Signing Day is off and running. Make sure to follow @irishdaily10 for the latest news on Notre Dame.
