Continuing the trend of strong recruiting weekends, Notre Dame will play host to many top recruits from the 2018 and 2019 classes for the Navy Game. This weekend will be more like NC State than USC, but nonetheless there will be prospects aplenty. Overall, it should be a busy weekend for the staff with important visitors.
THE 2018 NAMES
Payton Wilson – The lone official visitor this weekend, four-star linebacker Payton Wilson will have the red carpet rolled out for him. Wilson is a current North Carolina commit, but maintains Notre Dame along with a few other programs remain in the mix. Wilson recently had ACL surgery, but confirmed with 247sports he will make it to South Bend. He will be a tough pull from the Carolina’s, but he is worth the effort.
Tommy Tremble – Tremble took his official visit for the USC game back in October, and now will be back this weekend for Navy. He has visits planned to Michigan and Georgia in the next few weeks, but he could leave campus on Sunday a Notre Dame commit. The Irish coaching staff has been on Tremble for almost a year now, and he would a terrific add to the 2018 class.
FAMILIAR 2019 TARGETS
Joseph Anderson – It feels like Anderson has been at every Irish home game this season, and he will be back for the Navy game. Anderson has developed a close bond with current Notre Dame defensive tackle commit, Jacob Lacey, and it would come as no surprise to see Anderson end up Irish. He could pull the trigger this weekend.
John Olmstead – Olmstead is an offensive lineman the Notre Dame coaching staff covets. He received an offer back in June, and has been a top target ever since. The New Jersey product will take in game day in South Bend for the first time, and can hopefully spend some time with fellow Jersey boy Quenton Nelson. A verbal commitment is not likely, but Notre Dame could make a strong push for Olmstead this weekend.
2019 OHIO TRIO
Zach Harrison – Perhaps the best prospect in the 2019 class and coveted Notre Dame defensive end target will be in South Bend this weekend. Harrison lives 15 minutes from Ohio State, and the Buckeyes are the perceived favorite. However, Notre Dame has a strong chance to land the Columbus, Ohio native. If they do, it would be the highest rated recruit for Notre Dame since Jaylon Smith.
Rodas Johnson – Johnson could easily be under the familiar names section, but he is also an Ohio Native making the trip to South Bend this weekend. He is a priority recruit on the defensive line, and a recruit the staff has been on for awhile. Don’t expect a commitment this weekend, but it is a great sign that he will be back on campus.
Cade Stover – Stover is the least likely of these three Ohio recruits to end up a Notre Dame commit, but this is a return trip for the four-star outside linebacker. Stover seems destined to end up a Buckeye, but Notre Dame will continue to monitor his recruitment.
THE BEST OF THE REST
Marcus Hicks – Hicks was in South Bend for the NC State and will be back for the Navy game. The four-star defensive end has demonstrated a great deal of interest in Notre Dame and should receive an offer while on campus.
Casey Kline – Admittedly a Notre Dame fan, the 2019 four-star Arizona commit wants that coveted Notre Dame offer. Kline is one of the top outside linebackers on the west coast, and his recruitment has blown up over the past year. An Irish offer would certainly shake up his recruitment.
Denver Warren – The four-star defensive tackle is one of the top midwest prospects in the 2020 class. Notre Dame could get on him early this weekend with an offer.
